Dr Lee Moore & James Lambdon

Dr Lee Moore is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Bath and Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. Before joining Bath in 2017, Lee completed a PhD and Associate Research Fellow position at the University of Exeter (2010 to 2014) and was a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Gloucestershire (2014 to 2017). Lee's research focuses on psychophysiological responses to stress (e.g., cognitive appraisals, cardiovascular reactivity, etc.) to high-pressure situations in sport and other high-pressure domains (e.g., emergency medicine, healthcare, policing). He has a strong international research record, with ~60 peer-reviewed publications/book chapters, cited >3500 times, and a h-index of 27. Lee has presented his work >50 times nationally and internationally, and has attracted >£5 million in grant income from various funding organisations (e.g., National Institute for Health and Care Research [NIHR]). Finally, Lee holds significant editorial roles with top journals (e.g., Section Editor at Stress and Health), has won numerous prizes for his contributions to the field (e.g., 'Outstanding Reviewer of the Year' in 2024 for Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology), and engages in consultancy work with sector-leading industry partners (e.g., UK Sports Institute).

James Lambdon is an Applied Sport Psychologist with Team Bath and registered practitioner psychologist with the HCPC and chartered psychologist with the BPS. He has vast experience of supporting athletes from grassroots to professional and Olympic level sport.

This talk we be co-delivered by Mr James Lambdon and Dr Lee Moore from the University of Bath, with the latter introducing the concepts of psychological load and mental rest, and the former talking about working on these constructs with athletes in high-performance sport.
