As a former student athlete and passionate sports fan, I am always eager to understand what it takes to succeed in sport at such a high level. I played for the De Montfort University Football team and completed research on the wellbeing of sports coaches for my BSc Psychology dissertation. My background in Psychology has allowed me to study the wellbeing of both Sports Coaches and student-athletes in-depth. Wellbeing is vitally important for a positive mental health as well as being able to perform tasks to a high standard. The abstract of my previous research on Student-Athletes, titled 'Strength in Solitude?', is published in Journal of Sports Sciences, Volume 42 Issue S1. My experience working with young people in challenging circumstances and with people on probation has helped me develop a better understanding of the different needs for each individual. My hope is to gain further practical experience as a Sport & Exercise Psychologist in Training (SEPiT) and conduct more detailed research into the wellbeing of sports coaches and athletes at the elite level of sport.
