James Barraclough

My first degree was in psychology, followed a few years later by an MSc in sport psychology in 2004. Since the completion of the masters degree, I have provided sport psychology support to a number of athletes mostly in football and MMA. Around this time I began to coach football and spent nine months doing this in the USA. On my return I coached at various levels and in various settings (grassroots, after school clubs, Manchester University) before going on to gain 10 year's experience in academy football at Stockport County, Wigan Athletic, Bury and Oldham Athletic. I have the UEFA B license and the FA's Advanced Youth Award. In addition, I became a lecturer in 2009 and have 15 year's experience in teaching sports coaching and sport science. I have always had an interest in integrating sport psychology principles onto the pitch in football, which led me on to doing a professional doctorate into psychosocial factors in academy football which is now near completion.
