Who can attend?

The Hadrian's Wall Study Tour is open to all interested individuals!

No prior knowledge or experience of Hadrian's Wall is necessary, but individuals that have visited the Wall before or have studied the Wall are also welcome to attend.

There are, however, a few aspects to consider that may affect your participation in the study tour:

  • The tour will involve regular walking through rural and archaeological sites. In most cases, clearly defined (and often paved) paths are available, but walking across uneven grassy ground and up and down slopes will be typical.
  • The weather on Hadrian's Wall can sometimes be unpredictable, and it is feasible that some sites may be visited under rainy or wet conditions.
  • There will be toilet facilities at many of the sites visited, but for some aspects of the study tour, there will not be any facilities available.

There is no maximum age limit for participation, as long as you deem yourself healthy enough to engage with the tour. There is a minimum age of 14, however, and any persons between the ages of 14-18 should be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older).
