Dr Dénes Csala

Dr. Dénes Csala is a lecturer in Energy Storage Systems Dynamics with Energy Lancaster. His research interests include system dynamics, energy transitions, energy storage, complex systems, multi-agent systems and data visualization. His current academic work focuses on interfaces in interdisciplinary sociotechnical systems and issues in energy policy synchronization. He explores dynamics of centralized and decentralized energy systems and their interactions with data. He is also interested in studying the connection between energy and development and led educational workshops on sustainability and renewable energy across developing regions in Asia and Africa.

Dénes has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, an MSc in Engineering Systems & Management and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Engineering from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been a visiting researcher at the Center for Collective Intelligence at MIT Sloan School of Management and Boston University’s Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future. He also sits on the Global High Schools selection committee of the Zayed Sustainability Prize.

Dénes also believes that it is not only the quality of the research that matters but also the quality of the presentation - placing therefore great emphasis on data visualization and story-telling with data.
