Address - The National Railway Museum, Leeman Road, York, YO26 4XJ

How to get there:

By rail

The Museum is only a few minutes' walk from York station and the route is signposted:

  • Turn left outside the front of the station
  • Pass the Royal York Hotel and turn left into Leeman Road
  • Continue through the tunnel — the Museum is straight ahead.

There is also a direct route to the Museum via the station footbridge (not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs).  The conference centre is behind the main museum building on Leeman Road.

By bus

The Rawcliffe Park and Ride bus picks up and drops off on Leeman Road. For more information, visit the First Group Park and Ride website.

First's Number 10 bus also passes by the museum. Visit the First website to plan your journey.

Our main entrance is a just a few minutes' walk away from the bus stop.

Please note we no longer offer coach parking.

By car

Accessible parking is free, and is located outside the main entrance.

The museum is clearly signposted from all approaches to the city. Our visitor car park is on Leeman Road—a few minutes' walk away from our main entrance—and costs £10 per day.

Tokens for the visitor car park can be purchased at the main entrance. Please note this car park closes at 6.30pm.   As attendees as the conference parking is free but on a 'first come, first served' basis.  Please make sure you obtain the access code before departing from the conference.

We do not currently offer charging points for electric vehicles.

By bike

If you are planning on cycling here, we have a limited number of bike racks available at both entrances. Bikes are left at owner's risk

On foot

It's a 10 minute walk to the Museum from the centre of town, and the route is well signposted. But for a quicker, more convenient route from the city centre why not catch our road train?
