  • Kellie Daniels - Founder, Salomé Designs

Bio: Kellie Daniels was born in Houma, Louisiana in 1977 and grew up south of New Orleans. After receiving her Master’s in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Mass Communications & Art History from Louisiana State University; Daniels worked as an intern for the Guggenheim Museum in New York and then moved to Las Vegas to work with the Guggenheim in their gallery space in the Venetian Hotel.  In 2001 she began working with B&P a full-service advertising agency in Las Vegas and then moved back to New Orleans in 2003 and accepted a position as PR Director of Highwire Agency. In May 2004 she married architect Jonathon Daniels and in 2012 moved to his hometown of Newcastle with their 3 girls.

In 2015 Daniels began making jewellery in her Blaydon studio in Tyne & Wear.

Daniels launched her jewellery line SALOME in 2016 from her Blaydon Studio and used her experience in PR to propel the brand from a small bespoke handmade jewellery company to a worldwide brand. In 2016, she began selling with Wolf and Badger in New York and London and in 2019 started to supply SALOME to Fenwick.  All of her jewellery production is done in-house, and she uses sustainable methods and natural gemstones whenever possible.

Her work is inspired by her mother and all strong women, her Louisiana roots, nature, architecture, history, and the folklore and power of natural gemstones.  She also incorporates traditional American bead making techniques and displays as much of the natural gemstones as possible in each design. In 2021, Daniels formalised her 2 year PR mentoring role with Newcastle University and became a Tutor and Industry Expert in corporate communication.
