Venue

The meeting will take place in the Frederick Douglass centre (2, The Helix, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 5TG). The building is accessible for wheelchairs and includes nursing room. A prayer room is located in the Urban Sciences Building, just opposite to the Frederick Douglass centre. More information about the accessibility of the conference centre can be found on the links to the left.

The Frederick Douglass centre is part of Newcastle University, but is located off campus (10-min walk from the main University campus, 15-min walk from Newcastle central station). The building is in the city centre and is easy to reach on foot from city centre hotels, or via the Metro (Newcastle's light rail transport system). The city centre is compact: walking somewhere never takes longer than 20-30 minutes.

If you are travelling to the venue via Metro, the closest station is St James, which is a short 0.7 miles walk away. If you are travelling by car, there is paid parking at The Garage of the Newcastle Helix, NE4 5QB. Alternatively there is parking at St James’ Park, just a short walk away. If you are travelling by electric car, there are some Electric Bays just up the hill from the Frederick Douglass Centre. Detailed information about accessible parking near the venue and wheelchair accessible taxis can be found on the links to the left.

Maps of the campus and city can be found here.
