Adesola Ogunniyi is Professor of Medicine (Neurology) at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. Was previous Director of the Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training (IAMRAT) in Ibadan. He is a key speaker at the symposium representing the African Dementia Consortium. He has clinical and research interests in neurological disorders with focus on the epidemiology of neurocognitive disorders. He held the WHO-FIC-NINCDS fellowship in Neuroepidemiology at the NIH between 1986-1987. In collaboration with colleagues at the Indiana School of Medicine, Indianapolis, he documented the prevalence, incidence and risk factors for dementia in elderly Yoruba and African Americans. He has also participated in the development of novel instruments for cognitive assessment in disparate populations – the CSI’D and IDEA screens. He has collaborative links with Northwestern University, Chicago, USA and Newcastle University, UK and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, UK.
