11.30-13.00 Group ice-breaker exercise. (TASK: ‘Hopes, fears, expectations and what I bring’) ‘Speed dating’ activity. Participants introduce themselves, share their research interests, and set objectives for days ahead.

14.00-15.00 Keynote lecture 1 Delivered by UK Workshop Coordinator Professor Sue Robson

Presentation planning. Participants spend some time planning a short (15 minutes) presentation on projects they are currently working on, linked to one of the following themes:


(1) Internationalising the curriculum for qualitative learning outcomes.
(2) Enhancing the quality of international student and staff mobility experiences.
(3) Developing more transparent and sustainable transnational HE partnerships.
(4) Promoting ethical, equitable and socially responsible HE practices and research.

Workshop Coordinators and Mentors provide discussion questions and facilitate discussion

Research networking afternoon


1. Working in small groups, UK and Thai researchers present their ideas from the previous session.
2. TASK: From the presentations, participants create a mind map of potential research plans and collaborations.
3. These mind maps are then presented in plenary and recorded as a possible ‘map’ of the remaining sessions.

This session will link to the proposal writing session on Day 4.
