Postgraduate Bursaries

The Cognitive Section aims to provide some financial assistance to help postgraduates attend and present posters/papers at the conference. The maximum value of awards is £400 per applicant. Awards could contribute towards registration, accommodation at the conference venue, or travel to the conference. You can apply for a bursary following successful submission of an abstract for the conference.

Eligibility:
The award is open to postgraduates registered for research degrees at any UK or Republic of Ireland institution. To apply, postgraduates must be members of the BPS Cognitive Section (or have applied for membership).

Applications should include:

  1. Full contact details of applicant, including email address.
  2. A copy of the abstract submitted to the conference
  3. BPS membership number (or confirmation that membership has been sought with date).
  4. Evidence of membership to the BPS Cognitive Section.
  5. Details of travel costs (if applicable).
  6. Details of accommodation costs.
  7. Signed supporting statement from student's supervisor.
  8. A cover letter containing any other relevant information.

Closing date for applications: 7th July 2017.

Applications should be made via email to the Section Secretary (Lauren.Knott.1@city.ac.uk)

Further conditions: Retrospective applications will not be considered. The number of bursaries available each year will depend on resources and award of a bursary cannot be guaranteed even if all requirements for eligibility have been met. Decisions will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding unsuccessful applications.

Note: In order to join the Cognitive Section, individuals must already be a member of the British Psychological Society.

If you have any specific questions about the bursary scheme please email the Secretary.
