About Turku

‎Turku is the oldest city in Finland, and was the European Capital of Culture 2011. It has the soul of an international Capital of Culture, yet still feels like a small intimate city, and is sure to make a lasting impression.

Turku is located by the sea and straddles the River Aura. It is known as the gateway to Turku Archipelago, one of the most beautiful in the world, which stretches all the way from Turku to Stockholm.

The venue also offers lots of sightseeing opportunities. Turku Castle and several museums offer a comprehensive overview of historic and artistic development in the region.

Helsinki – the capital of Finland is only two hours away by train. From there, St. Petersburg (Russia), can be reached in 3.5 hours by train or visa-free ferry trip. Another popular attraction is a ferry trip to Stockholm.

The weather in September is usually pleasant with sunny days and an average temperature of around +16oC.
