Address - The National Railway Museum, Leeman Road, York, YO26 4XJ
How to get there:
By rail
The Museum is only a few minutes' walk from York station and the route is signposted:
- Turn left outside the front of the station
- Pass the Royal York Hotel and turn left into Leeman Road
- Continue through the tunnel — the Museum is straight ahead.
There is also a direct route to the Museum via the station footbridge (not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs).
By bus
The Rawcliffe Park & Ride bus picks up and drops off just outside the Museum.
By car
The Museum is clearly signposted from all approaches to the city. Our visitor car park is on Leeman Road (£10 per day). Accessible parking is free, and available outside our City Entrance. Both car parks are indicated in blue on the map above-right. We do not currently offer charging points for electric vehicles.
By bike
If you are planning on cycling here, we have a limited number of bike racks available at both entrances. Bikes are left at owner's risk
On foot
It's a 10 minute walk to the Museum from the centre of town, and the route is well signposted. But for a quicker, more convenient route from the city centre why not catch our road train?
Road Train
Travel straight to the Museum's door from Duncombe Place (next to York Minster). Trips leave the Museum on the hour and half hour from 11.00 to 16.00, and depart from Duncombe Place every 30 minutes from 11.15 to 16.15.
