International Lewy Body Dementia Conference 2022
Newcastle hosted the first International Dementia with Lewy bodies conference in October 1995 and the third in September 2003. We are pleased to host the seventh International Lewy body Dementia Conference (ILBDC) on June 15th-17th 2022 at the Newcastle-Gateshead Hilton Hotel, beautifully located overlooking the famous River Tyne and its many bridges and fine historic buildings. Newcastle is a major urban centre in the North East of England, and close to the outstanding Northumberland countryside and beautiful coastline.
The ILBDC brings together laboratory and clinical scientists, and previous meetings have been central to the development of diagnostic and management criteria for DLB. We are honoured that research leaders from around the world have responded to our invitation to assemble, what we expect to be, an outstanding conference programme.
A key aim of the conference is to encourage early career researchers into our field, to grow it for the future and our programme has been compiled with this in mind. We have, therefore, established Rising Star Awards for early career researchers and we plan to seat junior and senior delegates together at our Conference Dinner at the Hilton Hotel on Thursday evening to facilitate learning and mentoring relationships. This dinner and the drinks reception at the iconic Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art on Quayside on Wednesday are included as complementary for all attendees.
After the dislocation to our conference experience brought about by COVID-19 we look forward to welcoming you back to an in-person conference. Recognising the potential for difficulties for some people we have retained an online component (a hybrid conference) but for the full conference experience including rich academic and social interaction we look forward to warmly welcoming as many of you as possible to Newcastle in June 2022.
