In 2015 (Winnipeg Canada), 2016 (Pittsburgh USA) and 2017 (Bogor, Indonesia), the Bamboo in the Urban Environment Symposia were held. These, along with the 2014 establishment of the INBAR Construction Task Force, helped to establish a core group of international experts focussed on the use of bamboo materials in the construction industry. These meetings, no doubt, established the basis from which three new ISO bamboo materials (ISO 22157:2019), grading (ISO 19624:2018) and design (ISO 22156:2021) standards have recently emerged.
