Keynote Speakers

Prof Frank Marken

The General research interests of Prof Frank Marken are linked to water, solar energy, and sensing. This includes the development of novel electrochemical technologies including oxide nano-structure electro-catalysis for CO2 reduction, liquid-liquid triple phase junction processes, bio-electrochemical processes, ultrasound and microwave and sunlight-enhanced electrochemistry, solid state electrochemical processing, iontronics and ionic diodes in desalination, paired and self-supported organic syntheses, and industrially relevant electrode reactions (more than 480 publications).

Prof Sudipta Roy

Prof Sudipta Roy is interested in employing electrochemistry and electrochemical engineering to fabricate novel materials at the micro- and nano-scales. The applications of her research are in corrosion mitigation, manufacturing micro and nano devices for electronics and implants, and the removal of toxic substances from effluents. Much of the work embraces principles of green chemistry for sustainable process development.

Dr Shahid Rasul

  • Lecturer
  • Faculty of Engineering and Environment, Northumbria University

Dr. Rasul conducts the fundamental research into the electrochemical engineering of materials and design their surface and bulk properties to ultimately improve the efficiency of 1) chemical transformations of renewable energy into chemical bonds and 2) storage of renewable energy into charge storage devices. Dr. Rasul is interested in following research areas;

1.  Electrochemical recycling of CO2 to produce sustainable fuels

2. Materials design for next generation batteries (Li-air/S, Mg/Na/Al ion, Solid State Batteries)
