‘Creativity as a Future’

In this talk, Sana will reflect on the resilience, flexibility and enthusiasm needed to build a career in creative practice.

Sana Al-Naimi is a chartered architect (RIBA member), sole director of Archisana Ltd., PhD. student at the School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape - Newcastle University and AHRC Northern Bridge Studentship Award-holder.  Sana is also involved in tutoring and running workshops for the School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape and Architecture and Urban Planning undergraduate students at Newcastle University.

Sana studied architecture at the University of Baghdad where she acquired both her BSc. And MSc. degrees with distinction; ranking in the top three students throughout her academic journey. She also taught at the same department while practicing as an architect.

Sana moved to the UK in 2002 and started working for practices in Newcastle upon Tyne becoming a senior architect in her last employment before embarking on setting up her own architectural practice in 2011.

Sana is passionate about architecture and its power in shaping people’s lives. She is now exploring architectural history through her PhD project entitled: Architecture and Urbanism in Twentieth Century Iraq: The Enduring Legacy of Gertrude Bell.
