Kitty Porteous is an alumna of ICMuS at Newcastle University and currently works in her ideal role as Relationship Manager, Music including Education Hubs, at Arts Council England, based in Newcastle. For the past decade, Kitty has worked in a wide range of roles within the cultural sector which have helped to shape her career. As a doctoral researcher, Kitty carried out fieldwork in New York, while exploring Rap’s Collective Consciousness: The Significance and Dynamics of Cypher in Hip Hop Culture and she was pleased to be awarded a PhD in 2012. Inside and outside of work, Kitty is passionate about the arts and culture, especially music, and in her spare time she enjoys regular trips to the Tyneside Cinema, making cakes and is a very proud Geordie.
