I graduated in Applied Biochemistry from Liverpool John Moores University in 1986 and then pursed my doctorate studies at University of Oxford in Nuffield Department of Clinical Biochemistry on Longer-term regulation of Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Kinase. I moved to University of Leicester in 1995 and joined Protein & Nucleic Acid Chemistry Laboratory core facility where gained knowledge in synthetic chemistry of DNA and Peptides and sequencing of DNA and proteins by Edman degradation. I became director of the laboratory in 2000 and have been instrumental in starting Proteomic analysis at University of Leicester. Being in a core facility we collaborate with large number of researchers at Leicester and I have been co-applicant on successful grants.
