All delegates are invited to a drinks reception and networking event after the day’s proceedings on the Tuesday, 2nd October in the Great North Museum.
As well as a good opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and meet new people. We will be holding a Silent Auction.
Welcome speech by Professor Selina Stead.
Silent Auction
This year EMSEA will hold its first silent auction. This event is a fund raiser for scholarships to attend future EMSEA Conferences. Please consider donating goods, or services, to EMSEA that can be featured in the silent auctions. Examples could be books, paintings, jewellery, works of art, articles that represent your region or services or activities like photography or diving or sailing trips.
At the EMSEA Conference the items will be placed on table and you can write bids on a sheet of paper that is commonly placed before or next to the item. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item.
This idea has been adopted from the The US National Marine Educators Association annual conference. The silent auctions can be a lot of fun, especially after a couple of drinks, and the money raised goes to help new or younger members attend future conferences.
So, please get creative, find something you think other EMSEA members might like to bid on, and bring it along to the conference for the silent auction.
