Early Career Astrobiologist Workshop
Student and early career scientist event
We will hold an additional event specifically for PhD students and early career researchers on the afternoon of the 24th April (1pm start), immediately preceding the main conference. There will be two main sessions:
- The first session will be focused on potential careers in the Space sector. UKSA Aurora Fellows will give 10 min talks on their own history, how they got fellowships, and their current activities as a result of opportunities from their Aurora fellowship. They will be asked to focus on inspiring future excellence and leadership, and to give focus to their particular area of research. Round table discussions with UKSA Aurora Fellows and members of UK industry and government will be used to highlight diverse career options within both science, government and industry.
- Following directly on from this, a training event will be held focussing on developing key communication and presentation skills for students and early career scientists. The aim of this session will be to identifying the key skills for effectively communicating science to different audiences and media.
This will be followed by an evening networking dinner event, with the aim of encouraging early career scientists to develop their own networks within the UK community within an informal setting.
This event is being heavily subsidised by the UK Space Agency.
Registration is available when signing up for the ASB 2019 Conference.
