Meeting 2025

Association of Cancer Physicians/UK Society for Medical Oncology National Conference 2025

Theme: The Future Oncology Workplace & Workforce

On behalf of the UK Society for Medical Oncology (formerly The Association of Cancer Physicians), the Local Organising Committee and the UKSMO Executive Board, we are delighted to invite you to participate in the First National Conference of UKSMO, from Friday 12 – Sunday 14 September 2025.

The city of Newcastle and its University provides the perfect backdrop to this conference, showcasing innovation in the workplace and considering the Oncology workforce of the future.

There is increasing recognition that all cancer centres are under considerable pressure, due to resource limitations, increasing patient demand, increasing complexity of treatment delivery, treatment toxicity and the service delivery has impacted on capability and capacity to undertake or participate in research. Furthermore, staff are under stress with increasing incidence of burnout, work pressure and the whole system feels stretched.

This year we will host a parallel conference of the European Association for Cancer Education and delegates will be able to move between the meetings if there are presentations of interest.

This conference is to reflect on issues in the workplace and consider strategies to share good practice and innovation that can increase capacity and capability within the workplace and workforce, to highlight strategies for the physical and mental wellbeing of the oncology workforce and skill the participants on how they can plan their careers to maximise their impact on the service provision for the benefit of themselves and their patients.

Please consider joining us for what will be the UKSMO first national conference and most open networking event to date. We are expecting up to 500 delegates, bringing together the community of multidisciplinary specialists that deliver cancer services in the UK.

We look forward to seeing you in Newcastle in September 2025.
