Steve Webb started his career as a site engineer in the tunnels of the Jubliee line extension. He later moved into design engineering working for practices such as Whitby Bird, SKM Anthony Hunt and Santiago Calatrava. He is now director and founder of award winning engineering practice Webb Yates. He also teaches at various architectural institutions such as the RCA, the AA and the Bartlett. Webb Yates Engineers is based in London, Birmingham and Dubai and specialises in the structural and civil design of architectural structures. As a practice they are very interested in the versatility of materials, frequently working with less common structural materials in a wide variety of work typologies.
Steve's talk will look at use of stone as a non-decorative structural material and Webb Yates work in this field.
