TRAVEL INFORMATION

Set in the North East of the England, Newcastle-Gateshead has excellent access links. By train it only takes 2hrs 45mins from London and 1hr 20mins from Edinburgh. The A1(M) runs from the North to South and passes close by Newcastle-Gateshead. There are also regular and frequent air services from European and major international cities around the world.

And, once you're here there are a variety of ways to travel throughout the city centre and out to the suburbs and unspoilt coasts and countryside - there is the superb Metro transport link, excellent cycle routes, as well as frequent bus services. Taxis are plentiful, or you can choose to hire a car.

  AIR

Newcastle airport is about 20 minutes north of Newcastle City Centre.

Metro trains run directly from the airport to the City Centre and University Campus, cost £3 - 4

Taxis - It can cost £10-20 for a taxi from the airport to the City Centre, you can either take an Airport Taxi which wait outside the airport (and tend to be expensive) or call a local company to pick you up when you arrive, they are not allowed to wait at the airport so usually take a bit longer to arrive, they can collect you at the picking up/dropping off area of the airport.  A well known lower priced local company is Blue Line Taxis, tel: 0191 262 6666.

There is planned to be a pick up minibus operating on Sunday 18th July for arriving delegates (please keep checking the website for further information)
