The Norman Heaps Prize (£100)

For the best verbal presentation by an early-career non-established researcher at the Challenger conference.

The Norman Heaps prize was first awarded in 1988, in honour of Norman Heaps who was a pioneer in work on tides and storm surges. 

The Cath Allen Prize (£100)

For the best poster presentation at the Challenger conference.

The Best Poster Prize was first awarded in 1988 and, in 1991, was renamed in memory of Cath Allen, a research scientist at Lancaster University and council member of the Challenger Society. 

The Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland (MASTS) Prize (£100)

For the verbal or poster presentation with highest societal impact by an early-career non-established researcher at the Challenger conference.

This is the inaugural year for this award which aims to promote impact from scientific discovery.
