Keynote Speakers

Dr Stephanie Henson

Dr Stephanie Henson graduated from Leicester University with a BSc in Physics in 1998.  Her graduate studies included a MSc in Oceanography in 2000 and a PhD in Oceanography from the University of Southampton in 2005.  After postdocs at the University of Maine and Princeton University, she is now a senior scientist at the National Oceanography Centre and an honorary associate professor at the University of Southampton.

Dr Henson’s current research focuses on exploring the response of phytoplankton to natural variability and climate change, and the subsequent effects on organic carbon fluxes.  She takes the approach of synthesizing satellite data, in situ observations and model output to understand the long-term, global-scale response of ocean biogeochemistry to changes in the physical environment.

Dr Henson was awarded a NERC research fellowship in 2006 and an ERC Consolidator grant in 2017.  In 2012, she received the EGU’s Arne Richter Award for Outstanding Young Scientist.
